Terms of Service
The terms that govern your use of the 0byte origin protocol.
Last updated July 6, 2026
Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the services provided by 0byte Lab ("0byte", "we", "us") — including 0byte.tech, our API, SDKs, and browser extension (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
0byte is the origin protocol for AI content. It computes perceptual fingerprints, issues Ed25519-signed proofs of origin, and anchors them in a public transparency log so that content can be verified later — even from a screenshot. The Service is provided as-is and may evolve over time.
Accounts and API keys
- You are responsible for keeping your API keys and credentials secure.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must provide accurate information and promptly update it if it changes.
- Notify us immediately at hello@0byte.tech if you suspect unauthorized use.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit content you do not have the right to submit, or that infringes the rights of others.
- Attach false, misleading, or unlawful metadata to a proof of origin.
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the security or rate limits of the Service.
- Use the Service to build a competing origin-protocol registry from our transparency data.
Proofs and the transparency log
Proofs you create are anchored in a public, append-only transparency log and are permanent by design. You are responsible for the content and metadata you submit. You grant us the rights necessary to compute fingerprints, generate proofs, and publish the resulting verifiable records.
Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, branding, and documentation, is owned by 0byte Lab and protected by applicable law. Our open-source components are licensed under their respective licenses (MIT unless stated otherwise). You retain ownership of the content you submit.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that verification will detect every match, that the Service will be uninterrupted, or that it is fit for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, 0byte Lab will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the Service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
